SoJam ’09

I’ve been going to the SoJam a cappella festival in North Carolina since it’s second year.  I remember it very well, as my first SoJam, as well as my first chance to see the House Jacks live.  I had traveled down there were my friend Kurt Walker, who’s now involved in the organization of the festival, and has done a wonderful job of ensuring I remain involved.  Since he lives in Utah these days, it’s the one time of year I know I’ll get to see him.

But that’s not all I get to see:

  • The incomparable TK
  • Dave Sperandio of Vocal Source with Jeff Thatcher of Rockapella
  • Carl Taylor of Liquid 5th
  • The always entertaining Mr. Tim
  • Some amazing masterclasses
  • Two nights of amazing a cappella performances featuring talent from both college and professional groups

These are of course only a small sampling of the hundreds of images viewable and purchasable at:

The SoJam Events page at LivingFiction Pictures

And only a handful of memories from a fantastic weekend.  If you’ve ever been, come back, if you’ve never been, come next year!

A Visitor

A dear friend and beautiful artist came to visit me this weekend.  Working with her has always inspired, and this visit is no exception, I only wish we could keep her longer.

Spa Virgo II

So in my last post we met some of the individuals who make up Svengali and Spa Virgo.  In this post I’ll share some of the images I took of their space, and their work.  This is a full service establishment, offering everything from facials, hair, nails, and many types of massage.  Definitely worth checking out!

Svengali and Spa Virgo can be found at, 225 Lark Street, Albany, New York 12210.  Call 518.462.0560 to set up an appointment, tell them Michael sent you!

Spa Virgo I

My friend Moira works in a salon called Svengali or Spa Virgo.  When they saw the work she and I had done, they approached me about doing some for them.  What resulted was a very fun day with some beautiful and talented people.

Here are some photos I took of these beautiful people!

A Woman of Strength

I’ve been talking to my friend Jory for awhile now about doing some work together.  She’s an amazing athlete, and a beautiful woman, who I thought would be an excellent candidate for some ideas I’ve had about expressing ideas of womanhood and strength.  Today we got together for some test shots, and I think my hunch was right on the money.  I can’t wait to do more work with her!
